Disc plow is an agricultural machine with a rotating disc as the main tillage component, mainly used for tilling, loosening and crushing soil. Unlike traditional moldboard plows, its core working parts are multiple concave discs, which are driven by tractor to rotate to achieve cutting, turning and crushing of soil.
Structure and composition
The disc plow consists of multiple discs (usually 60-90 cm in diameter), brackets, adjustment devices and traction frames. The discs are concave in shape, arranged obliquely on the brackets, and connected to the main shaft through bearings. Some models are equipped with adjustment mechanisms to adjust the deflection angle (cutting angle) and inclination angle (concave inclination) of the disc to adapt to different soil conditions.
Working principle
When the tractor pulls the disc plow forward, the disc rotates passively under the resistance of the soil. The edge of the concave disc cuts into the soil layer, cuts the soil and uses the curved surface to lift and turn it, while breaking the soil blocks. The deflection angle determines the depth of soil penetration (usually 15-30 cm), and the inclination angle affects the effect of turning and covering the soil.
Advantages
1. **Strong adaptability**: It can till hard, weedy or stubble-covered fields, reducing the risk of blockage.
2. **High operating efficiency**: The rolling friction resistance is less than that of a moldboard plow, saving about 20% of traction and reducing fuel consumption.
3. **Easy maintenance**: The disc can be replaced separately after wear, and the bearing structure reduces soil adhesion.
Application scenarios
Applicable to dry land, hilly gentle slopes and straw return areas, especially suitable for farmland with more residues of previous crops. It performs better than moldboard plows in heavy clay soils, but it is easy to over-crush the soil in sandy soils and needs to be used with caution.
Maintenance points
After operation, it is necessary to promptly remove the soil attached to the disc, lubricate the bearings regularly, and check the wear of the disc blade (wear exceeds 25% and needs to be replaced). When stored for a long time, the disc should be adjusted to a vertical state to avoid deformation.
Disc plows play an important role in modern conservation tillage systems with their unique tillage methods, and are especially suitable for large-scale farms to achieve efficient soil management.
